The Problem:
The client was operating scaled boilers without proper water treatment which was negatively affecting boiler efficiency and energy costs.
The Solution:
When we inspected the boilers, we found significant scaling on all internal surfaces. We recommended, and subsequently implemented an appropriate chemical treatment program which gradually eliminated scaling over a three to six month period. We continue to treat all boiler systems at all regional locations with appropriate scale and corrosion chemistries.
The Result:
Implementing the recommended engineering and treatment methodologies resulted in clean boiler systems by eliminating scale and corrosion. This allowed the boilers to return to the expected efficiency, resulting in a $1.2 million annual reduction in energy costs. Annual inspections of the boilers indicate they remain clean and efficient for six years and running.
